Northstar Technical Center (NTC) operates a state-registered Electrical Apprenticeship Program designed to address critical workforce shortages in the skilled trades. Employers across Pennsylvania continue to face challenges in recruiting and retaining qualified electricians, particularly those trained in safety, code compliance, and real-world application.

NTC’s apprenticeship model integrates 8,000 hours of structured on-the-job training (OJT) with 762 hours of related technical instruction (RTI), ensuring apprentices develop both practical competencies and technical knowledge aligned with industry standards.

Volunteer engagement is a strategic component of this model, expanding program capacity, strengthening industry alignment, and enhancing apprentice outcomes without increasing program cost burden.
